Pictures of Adeline: March 9th, March 10th

A Grandma, A Worm, A Moth

We had bumper to bumper grandparent visits and then a family reunion after that. Enjoyed ourselves immensely, but I managed to get the camera out only once to take a picture of Grandma Kathy and Addie. To make up for that, I have also included some of Will’s nature photos for the week: an inchworm that looks like a stick, and a moth.

Sitting with our pansies and violas, which were doing quite well until the rain beat them to oblivion today. Maybe they’ll perk up. Notice her new water bottle…very precious possession. :-)

Spinning lettuce with Will! We are blessed with an abundant lettuce and spinach crop. Our peas are blossoming now too, but the other things we planted are pretty slow in growth right now. Lots of cool, rainy weather.

Poring over the Grasslands Field Guide (lots of pictures of animals and bugs and reptiles and all those things that little boys love).

Just can’t get enough of baby close-ups. Even when they’re blurry. :-)

This and That

Oh, it’s been too long since the last post! Now there are too many pictures to sort through! Mark hasn’t had his Monday night meeting the last few weeks, and so we’ve been off of our movie-and-blog-night schedule.

We’ve been to the park more often, had Karen’s crew here for a few days (one picture is all of them picking rhubarb together!), attempted to strip the picnic table, bought Will some better sketch pencils, physical therapy for Lias (which is still going well), various yard work projects, various supper guests, and all the other day-to-day excitement! Today the kids found a baby robin in the cemetery and asked that I post one of the pictures of it. They’ve been quite busy with camera. It’s been unloading now for the last several minutes. :-) I think that’s partly due to all the videos they’ve taken. Maybe I’ll try posting some of them later. (Actually, what I really mean is that maybe later I’ll beg my husband to post them for me!).

May...

We traveled to Iowa over Mother’s Day and enjoyed our time with grandparents—even great-grandparents! My mom’s folks were up for an overnight stay, Merri’s mom had come up with Uncle Paul, and we even got to see Aunt Suzy and Uncle Randy and Stacey! What a treat! We left our older three boys with Gma Merri and Gpa Greg for a few days after that. They had a wonderful time…too wonderful! Always hard for them to leave. Gma Kathy and Gpa Dan came up to Sioux Falls on Friday so that Mark and I could go to a homeschooling conference here in town. (Well, we also went out to eat, and met friends, and so on, but the main reason we needed babysitters was for the conference, really.) :-) We celebrated 11 years together on Saturday!

We had some friends over on Thursday night, and their children and our children decided to spend some time playing in the dirt in the flower barrel. They were all pretty filthy! The flower barrel has since been planted with pansies. :-)

Will continues to amaze me with his Magna Doodle drawings. He also enjoys taking pictures, though our camera can get persnickety sometimes.

Liam likes to pick and arrange flowers for me! We have lots of things that are flowering right now, although the lilacs came off of a bush in the cemetery. Not for sure about the ethics of that one. :-)

And last but not least…

Lias says hi. :-)

It’s springtime and that means all sorts of things that need doing out of doors. Unfortunately, Lias does not thoroughly enjoy the outdoors like you would expect a little baby boy to do! But, we make it work, he just comes along for the ride!

Up a Tree...

And despite all the traffic in the favorite climbing tree, we have a robin who decided to nest there, making it all the more attractive to the children. And I have a new laundry adventure…sap!

Will usually sketches with a pencil (and we’ve got some scanned drawings of his that I really need to post!), but every now and then he might use the Etch-a-Sketch or the Magna Doodle. Then we have to take a picture since you can’t scan those quite as easily. :-) He’s also taken to painting here lately. We may have to purchase him higher quality paints!
