Soothing our Disappointments...

We were supposed to have the Sprays here this weekend since Dan had a bike race in town, but unfortunately most of us are sick, so we are alone and disappointed. Why not catch up on posting, right?!?
Mark and I try to get away for a quick overnight trip by ourselves every now and then (okay, so it is once every pregnancy because there’s no baby nursing then!). We went the first part of August. The boys stayed with Gma Merri and Gpa Greg, and Addie stayed with Gma Kathy. The kids had a wonderful time, I’m pretty sure the grandparents enjoyed themselves too, and of course Mark and I really appreciated 24 hours to ourselves. Sounds like Addie spent a lot of time on Gpa Dan’s “bed” (a cot they had set up in the living room while he recovers from some back problems).
We’ve lived in Sioux Falls for almost 2 years now, and we still get asked “So how do like Sioux Falls?”. :-) We really do enjoy Sioux Falls. It’s a bigger town than what I ever thought we’d end up in, but after living here awhile, it just doesn’t feel that “big”! (And of course people from truly larger cities would tell us that it really isn’t that big!) Anyway, we’ve enjoyed the parks in town, and some friends recently introduced us to the town’s Spray Park. The kids loved it, even the older ones. (And it’s free!)
Addie is finally walking. Whew. She started a couple weeks ago and is good and settled in it now. (She’ll be 18 months old the beginning of September). I’ve talked to other people who have commented that their children who grew up around a lot of hardwood floors started walking later than their children who had more carpeting. So, we’ll blame it on that. :-) Now that she’s walking though, we’ve pulled her couple of dolls out more often (she liked her babies before, but it’s kinda hard to crawl and hold a baby). I’ve been waiting for this since I’ve been a bit concerned that she really only has boy toys to play with. We made her baby a bed out of a shoe box, and I decided I could find a cheap doll stroller fairly easily. Nope. None to be found. Can you believe that? I haven’t searched every store, but I thought for sure this was going to be easy! I had also decided I’d pick her up a few girl toys since Christmas is so far away, but I didn’t have any luck on that either. Guess I’m too picky.

Is it possible to sooth the disappointments? :( Love the pictures! We went to a Spray park in Omaha once and the boys loved it too! We were partial to the name as well – they claimed it as their own!
